Why is Kitakyushu City known as the SUSHI "Kingdom”?

To uncover the reason, we’re making a special visit to the Kitakyushu City Public Regional Fish Market—an area normally restricted to the public!
Experience the thrilling “auction” performed by skilled artisans up close, and feel firsthand the exceptional freshness of top-quality seafood gathered from the Hibiki Sea, the Kanmon Strait, and the Buzen Sea. Furthermore, this tour includes a special visit to the tuna dissection area, where massive tuna are expertly filleted. After witnessing the artisans’ powerful techniques firsthand, you can enjoy a commemorative photo session with them to capture your travel memories.
Following the tour, we’ll serve a breakfast featuring the finest, freshly prepared sushi ingredients. We invite you to enjoy a special experience that engages all five senses—discovering the essence of “Kitakyushu Sushi,” which captivates the world, and the vibrant energy of the market that supports its quality.

■Access
*By Train:
Get off at Kokura Station on the Sanyo Shinkansen.
From Kokura Station Shinkansen Ticket Gate about 3 minutes by walk.


■Course content
1) Meet at the reserved taxi stand at the North Exit of Kokura Station.

2) After meeting the interpreter-guide, travel to the market by private taxi.

3) Upon arrival at the market, put on hats and rubber boots in the conference room.

4) Tour briefing and safety instructions.

5) Observe the auction.

6) Tour the tuna cutting area.

7) Tour the Live Fish Center (tanks).

8) Tour the wholesale market.

9) Return hats and rubber boots, then proceed to Minato Sushi for a breakfast of nigiri sushi.

10) After breakfast, return to Kokura Station by private taxi.

Please note that this tour may be combined with other groups.
2) Cancellation of the Auction:
The auction may be canceled due to force majeure, such as inclement weather or poor catch conditions. Please note that the tour will proceed as scheduled in such cases, and no refunds will be issued.
3)Clothing and Equipment:
For safety and hygiene reasons, you must wear the hats and rubber boots provided by the market on the day of the tour (please note that we may refuse entry if you do not wear them).
4) Cooperation with Photography for Promotional Use:
We may take photos of the tour for use on our official website, in brochures, on social media, and other promotional materials. If you do not wish to be photographed or have your image published, please feel free to inform a staff member before the tour begins.
5)Safety Management and Liability:
As there is vehicle traffic within the bustling market, please always follow the instructions of our staff and refrain from wandering off on your own. The organizer cannot be held liable for any accidents or injuries resulting from your own negligence. Additionally, if you damage or break delicate fresh produce or market facilities, you may be required to pay for the repairs or replacement at cost.
6)For groups of 4 or 5 people, the price is 19,800 yen per person.
We will refund the difference after your reservation is confirmed.
